Grant Larson has been playing guitar for 17 years and has loved every minute of it. He remembers his mother telling him to stop practicing and finish his homework. He received his first guitar at the age of 13 and committing to lessons changed his whole world. He was amazed that he was able to play his favorite songs! However, the most fulfilling aspect of the lessons was learning the necessary musical tools and concepts that allowed him to write his own music.
As his guitar abilities grew, he formed and played in many bands throughout the Pacific Northwest. For Grant, performing live reinforced the importance of practice and exposed him to other talented musicians throughout the region.
He continued his musical journey by enrolling at Portland Community College. There he met his teacher, Peter Zisa. It was during this time that he began to study classical guitar, a brand new challenge and adventure for him. Soon after, Grant won a scholarship to attend Pacific University and is currently pursing a Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy. Music is a part of his everyday life and not only does he get to play music every day, he gets to use it in a way that will help others.
To Grant, music is truly magical and he loves to share it with others. It is so wonderful how music has the power to bring people together.
